The cost of calling a mobile phone from a landline is set to fall in the UK.
By April 2015, prices per minute will drop from 4.18p to 0.65p - a decline of 85 per cent - collectively saving people in the UK £800 million a year.
A decision was made by the Competition Appeals Tribunal (Cat) after years of discussions regarding the matter between telcoms firms and regulators.
The final reduction figure is lower than that originally recommended by regulatory body Ofcom and the cuts are being introduced at a faster rate.
Vodafone has warned consumers may not benefit from the changes as landline providers such as BT and Virgin Media are increasing their prices.
"The fixed-line operators have merely pocketed previous reductions in mobile termination rates, instead of reducing prices for customers," the mobile phone network provider stated.
However, BT welcomed Cat's decision and said it hopes it is brought into effect as quickly as possible.
