The popularity of mobile phones is changing the way companies think about office design, it has been suggested.
James Geekie, design manager at Area Sq, explained there is a new trend for 'bring your own device' among employees.
This is changing the way workers use technology when they are in the office as they no longer have to sit in front of a "big box or a massive monitor on a desk".
Instead, they can use mobile phones and tablet computers to do their work, Mr Geekie continued.
"There's no doubt that technology within the workplace has moved on tremendously within the last two to three years," he added.
This is not the only way businesses can use mobile technology to their advantage, as the KPMG Consumer Markets CFO (chief financial officer) Survey recently showed 36 per cent of those surveyed think targeting mobile users is the best way to boost sales.
