Over 90 per cent of businesses in the UK believe that 4G technology should be introduced as soon as possible.
A survey by Coleman Parkes, commissioned by Everything Everywhere, showed that 94 per cent of senior decision makers are in favour of 4G being rolled out to ensure that UK companies remain competitive.
Martin Stiven, vice-president of B2B (business to business) at Everything Everywhere, said that UK businesses needed 4G networks to allow them to be productive and competitive on the global scale.
"Half of the countries on the G20 list of the world's biggest economies already have 4G, leaving British businesses at risk of falling behind rivals," he added.
Smartphones are starting to become key components of people's business lives, with 72 per cent of respondents saying that they use mobile internet every day for work purposes.
Just over half of people stated that a 4G network would provide more flexibility when working on the go.
Everything Everywhere, the result of the merger of Orange and T-Mobile, plans to invest £1.5 billion over the next three years to support its 4G rollout.
